Paprika Hussar. It's a great name for a Hungarian restaurant.

"Paprika Hussar. It's a great name for a Hungarian restaurant. I was rather hoping it was named for some famously debonair horseman of the Austro-Hungarian Empire notorious for dyeing his gold-brocaded Hussar's jacket, or his notoriously wide mustache, with dried red capsicum - but sadly it's not so. It's just the combining of two words with strong Hungarian connotations to create a suitably evocative name. A bit like the way Collingwood parents used to call their children "Rob Carr", "J L", or "Pentridge Petty Larceny". "

When it comes to high-class wintry stodge, not many cuisines get close to Hungarian.

The Age

An article by Dani Valent, Reviewer

"Winter stomps all over summer when it comes to good eating. Imagine a duel between gazpacho and minestrone, or coleslaw and sauerkraut, or stir-fried beef and a slow-cooked stew. The hot, chunky, heavy dish is a shoo-in every time, the muscle-bound spunk that sends the fey 90-pound-weakling scurrying from the strand. When it comes to high-class wintry stodge, not many cuisines get close to Hungarian. Meat and potatoes figure strongly. Dumplings and pancakes are big. Dessert is generally followed by a plea for mercy, then a plea for the recipe. "
